Apply now to see where your career at CHOC Children's can take you.Job SummaryThe Diversity, Equity & Inclusion Officer fosters and promotes a corporate culture of diversity, equity and inclusion, ensuring these values are reflected throughout the organization in support of CHOC's mission, "to nurture, advance and protect the health and well-being of children." includes both internal- and external-facing functions, supporting workforce training and development, business and clinical care best practices, employee, physician and customer relations as well as public affairs and advocacy engagement to advance the values of Diversity, Equity and Inclusion while addressing disparities in health, wellness and opportunity for children. Provides strategic and day-to-day oversight for CHOC's Diversity, Equity and Inclusion policies, programs, initiatives and practices, with the goal of achieving measurable progress through structural and systemic change. Leads a comprehensive internal review and needs assessment and oversees program design, creation of policies and procedures, implementation and performance measurement. Performs a critical central role in launching, socializing, driving and sustaining a multi-disciplinary Diversity, Equity and Inclusion strategy for the organization.Experience

  • Required: Minimum of five (5) years of experience in Equity & Inclusion, EEOC or related field. Minimum of three (3) years of experience leading diverse teams and developing talent. Minimum of two (2) years of experience leading and facilitating Diversity, Equity and Inclusion initiatives with a demonstrated return on investment.
  • Preferred: Ten years of progressive business experience or healthcare experience with an emphasis in Diversity, Equity and Inclusion or related field.Education
    • Required: Bachelor's degree in Sociology, Psychology, Human Resources, Ethnic Studies, Business Administration/Organizational Development or closely related field.
    • Preferred: Master's degreeSpecialized Skills
      • Required: Strong interpersonal and diplomacy skills to guide, influence and motivate others, including colleagues in other business areas. Clear understanding of organizational dynamics and proficiency with strategic planning and deployment of enterprise-wide strategies. Strong awareness of current trends, policies and legislation related to Diversity, Equity and Inclusion. Strong project management skills and demonstrated expertise in the translation of vision into action and accountability. Able to read; write and speak with professional quality; use computer and software programs necessary to the position, e.g., Word, Excel, Power Point, Access; Able to relate and communicate positively, effectively, and professionally with others; provide leadership; be assertive and consistent in enforcing policies; work calmly and respond courteously when under pressure; lead, supervise, teach, and collaborate; accept direction. Able to communicate effectively in person, in writing, and on the telephone; think critically; work independently; perform basic math and statistical functions; manage multiple assignments; compose written material; work well under pressure; problem solve; organize and prioritize workload; recall information with accuracy; pay close attention to detail.Licensure
