For more information, visit Description:The Material Science Engineer will join our material compatibility program, specifically focusing on our disinfectants, cleaners and sterilant. You will be doing research to improve our fundamental understanding, and work with medical device companies on material selection, testing, and failure analysis. The ideal candidate will be expected to lead vendor collaborations, and be resourceful and take initiative in sourcing collaboration opportunities.Translate products' concepts/insights into fast prototyping to evaluate technical feasibility.Generate engineering solutions by evaluating and selecting optimum design alternatives.Identify gaps related to material compatibility and propose robust solutions or independent studies.Design and carry out developmental work using appropriate methods and instrumentation to scientifically confirm efficacy, stability, compatibility and reliability of design.Independently plan and execute projects according to projects' timetable and establish daily or weekly routines to meet project timetable.Present scientific data and recommendation to influence internal stakeholder and drive project direction.Develop and implement new testing methods and operating procedures to facilitate formula development process.Manage vendor and external collaborator relationships; proactively collaborate with external medical device manufacturers for material compatibility testing.Collaborate and carry out design verification studies and other studies to meet the design controls requirements.Perform engineering analysis such as stress, tolerance stack, material selection, and FMEA.Independently conducts root cause analysis investigations.Prepare cost estimates on proposed major design products.Provide technical support for process qualification/validation and design transfer activities of new products' launch.Participate in efforts associated with continuous improvement, regulatory compliance, and other organization capability initiatives.Work on cross functional team to prepare scientific conference presentations and publications.Estimated 5% travel will be required for this position.Job Requirements:BS or MS in chemical engineering, material engineering, polymer science and engineering, or related discipline.2+ years of R&D experience in medical device or related industry.Knowledge of material characterization and failure analysis techniques.Experience in manufacturing processes such as injection molding, blow molding, etc.Familiarity with ASTM/ ISO standards and mechanical testing.In-depth understanding of various statistical analysis tools.Understanding of medical device material compatibility testing methodology is a plus.3D CAD modeling, experience with SolidWorks is a plus.#LI-MC1IND123Operating Company:MetrexEnvista and all Envista Companies are equal opportunity employers that evaluate qualified applicants without regard to race, color, national origin, religion, sex, age, marital status, disability, veteran status, sexual orientation, gender identity, or other characteristics protected by law.
