Job Description:

The Senior Engineer is responsible for the planning, management, supervision, and coordination of professional engineering work related to the planning, design, construction, and maintenance of various public works projects. The Senior Engineer manages multiple public works projects simultaneously, supervises project staff, activities and tasks, coordinates project development and progress with clients, and provides technical support for internal and external stakeholders. The Senior Engineer will serve as a construction manager/resident engineer on public works projects and as a senior engineer at a municipality in a support role.The Senior Engineer role is a full-time, exempt position. However, candidates interested in part-time employment will also be considered.Responsibilities

• Develop and supervise the preparation of plans, specifications and estimates for the construction of public works projects.
• Manage and direct a team of engineers, technicians and related professionals in the preparation of engineering plans, specifications and construction documents.
• Review and provide recommendations for site improvement plans for conformance with governing codes and design principles.
• Provide professional and engineering support to design and construction management teams.
• Serve as senior engineer at a municipality.
• Administer public works' construction contracts.
• Direct engineering staff to perform complex engineering work for public works projects and programs, ensuring technical competence and compliance with governing regulations.
• Manage project development and budgets from inception to completion including project planning, scheduling and critical milestones monitoring to ensure timely project delivery on time and on budget.
• Coordinate project development activities with all stakeholders including but not limited to the project team, field personnel, agency staff, utility companies, consultants and contractors.
• Work closely with clients and group leads.
• Perform other related duties as required.Qualifications
  • 8+ years of progressive engineering experience.
  • 2+ years in a supervisory role.
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering from an accredited college or university.
  • Current PE California License is required. Specialty certifications are highly desired.
  • Proven track record for successfully completing public works projects.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Possession and maintenance of a valid Class "C" California driver's license is required.Working Conditions
