Conjugation Scientist, Biotherapeutic Engineering (BS or MS)Job ID REQ-10048864Apr 22, 2025USASummaryInternal Title: Senior Scientist I#LI-Onsite lab roleThe Biologics Research Center (BRC) is seeking a highly motivated scientist with the skills and experience to contribute to advancing ADC drugs to patients in need. This is a great opportunity to join a group dedicated to protein, antibody drug/ antibody drug conjugate discovery. In this role, you will be a member of several multidisciplinary teams in a variety of disease areas, you will support the Novartis conjugation core and be a key player in advancing drug discovery projects.A proven track record of hands-on experience with conjugation chemistry and analytical assays are essential for this role.About the RoleKey Responsibilities:

  • Independently conjugate, purify and characterize antibody-drug and/or oligonucleotide conjugates (ADCs/AOCs) using applicable instrumentation for linker-payload conjugation and purification, analytical techniques and characterization assays.
  • Coordinate the submission for supplementary biophysical characterization and interpret analytical results with area experts.
  • Contribute to the analysis and synthesis of results, design of new experiments and clear communication of scientific progress to project team(s); troubleshoot experiments, optimize conjugation protocols and suggest mitigation strategies to meet project accelerated timelines.
  • Work effectively as a member of cross-functional teams to accomplish shared project goals.
  • Contemporaneous and accurate documentation of experiments in ELN and registration databases.
  • Contribute to patents, publications, and technical reports.
  • Proficiency in any of the following: antibody engineering and characterization.
  • Experience with expressing, purifying and characterizing hybridomas and recombinant antibodies.
  • Extended molecular biology expertise in assays such as cloning and qPCR.
  • Experience in cell binding and functional assays for antibody/ ADC/AOC characterization.
  • Experience with biological assays such as measuring cytotoxic activity for ADC characterization.
  • Ability to analyze experiments in related software such as Microsoft Excel, including basic macro programming; FlowJo; Octet etc.Company will not sponsor visas for this position.Novartis is unable to offer relocation support for this role: please only apply if this location is accessible for you.Novartis Compensation and Benefit Summary:The pay range for this position at commencement of employment is expected to be between: $85,400 and $158,600/year; however, fluctuations in the job market may necessitate adjustments to pay ranges during this period. Further, final pay determinations will depend on various factors, including geographical location, experience level, knowledge, skills, and abilities.
