GENERAL DESCRIPTION:
This position supports the missions and operations of the Orange County Boy Scouts of America and the Irvine Ranch Outdoor Education Center.
The mission of the Boy Scouts of America is to prepare young people to make ethical and moral choices over their lifetimes by instilling in them the values of the Scout Oath and Law.
The mission of The Irvine Ranch Outdoor Education Center is to serve all youth of Orange County by providing quality outdoor educational programs that instill in them an appreciation of the outdoors and the environment, teach effective teamwork, instruct about the cultural history of Orange County, and provide access to the natural resources of the surrounding areas.
REQUIREMENTS


  • Minimum age requirement is 21.
  • Hold a current BSA Aquatics Director National Camping School certification or be able to earn and maintain certification
  • Hold current certification as a BSA or American Red Cross Lifeguard or be able to earn and maintain certification
  • Maintain certification in Red Cross Adult and Pediatric First Aid, CPR, and AED


    • Highly desired: Bilingual

      JOB DUTIES

      • Support the overall operations of the Orange County Boy Scouts of America.
      • Demonstrate proficient knowledge and implementation of mandated course safety standards and regulations in accordance with American Red Cross, BSA National Camp Accreditation Program (NCAP), American Camp Association (ACA), and best industry practices.
      • Must be able to maintain physical abilities to uphold certifications and act quickly in emergencies.
      • Responsible forsupervising andoverseeing aquatics programs and staff including merit badges, recreational swim, lessons, boating activities, etc.


        • Deliverhigh quality programming, personify professionalism, and exhibit excellent customer service to all staff and guests of the IROEC.
        • Instructor development and in-service training
        • Assist in overall administration and facilitation of programs as needed.


          • Collaborate with developing and implementing new programs and activities.
          • Complete regular aquatic center inspections and maintenance


            • Maintain and uphold facility standard operating procedures including opening and closing the facility, class tracking, and staff development.
            • Delivery of timely and professional feedback about inventory, personnel or other


              • Participates in IROEC and OCBSA staff meetings, training, and enhancement activities.
              • Assist and facilitate programs and property needs in all areas as needed.
              • Perform other duties as assigned.

                • Dexterity and strength to use and handle tools and program equipment.
                • The employee must frequently lift and/or move moderate to heavy objects up to 25 pound in a time.


                  • Safely operate property vehicles in varied conditions.
                  • Work outdoors in varied weather conditions including dust, pollen, insects, and wildlife.
