Job Description Summary
The rapidly growing Dale E. and Sarah Ann Fowler School of Engineering (FSE) seeks highly motivated colleagues to help build Chapman University's newest school. Opened in the Fall of 2019, FSE offers undergraduate degree programs in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Data Science, Software Engineering, and Electrical Engineering, and is located in the new Swenson Family Hall of Engineering. FSE's first graduate program, MS in Electrical Engineering and Computer Science (EECS), is in development and ready to recruit the first cohort of students to begin Fall 2023.


Fowler Engineering is looking for a driven, collaborative, and goal-oriented individual with a growth mindset to join the team and fill the role of Graduate Program Manager to help build, launch, and manage the new MS EECS program.


By working closely with the program director, leadership, and campus partners, the manager will manage and support a wide range of activities from recruitment through graduation, advising, outreach, orientation, and academic program support. The manager implements all activities to ensure enrollment goals are met, engages with students to support their success, and evaluates post-launch adoption of the program. This role requires the individual to be a self-starter and proactive with the ability to coordinate and execute projects both on their own and within a team environment.




Responsibilities

Recruitment and Admission



  • Manage the development and implementation of Fowler Engineering's graduate recruitment and admission strategies, including initiatives that support the recruitment of diverse student populations
  • Lead recruitment efforts by proactively seeking out prospective students; develop high touch point correspondence and communications; oversee digital marketing and promotional materials; track and address all inquiries
  • Serve as Fowler Engineering's liaison to the Office of Graduate Admission; evaluate and track application materials, coordinate final reviews with the school admissions committee, and communicate admission decisions
  • Represent FSE at recruitment events including, but not limited to, information sessions, conferences, and graduate fairs


    Student and Program Support
  • Manage and support the graduate student experience by providing personalized guidance from admission through graduation; increase engagement and ensure that student concerns are promptly addressed; help build a strong graduate student community
  • Develop and execute innovative and engaging events and activities such as onboarding and orientation, information sessions, receptions, guest speakers, and networking opportunities
  • Provide guidance and advisement regarding program requirements, course enrollment, degree audits, and strategies for successful program completion
  • With a focus on student success and retention, track student progress, conduct degree audits, and review files for milestone completions; create and maintain accurate and comprehensive student records including placement, degree progress, and demographic information
  • Engage in strategic planning and initiatives and contribute to continuous program improvement
  • Partner with the program director, leadership, and campus partners to determine student needs and establish support resources
  • Provide information/updates for incorporation on websites, social media, E-newsletters, and other communication channels
  • Participate and represent Fowler Engineering in university committees, programs, and events both on and off-campus
  • Perform other duties as assigned





    Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree from an accredited institution of higher education
  • Three (3) years of related work experience in higher education
  • Analytical skills to evaluate and interpret complex policies and procedures that apply to graduate students
  • Highly effective interpersonal, customer service, and communication skills to interact with individuals of diverse backgrounds and perspectives clearly and effectively, and to make presentations to individuals and groups
  • Excellent organizational skills to collect, analyze and maintain data, create summary reports, and track student progress and enrollment trends
  • Strong written communication and analytical skills to develop informational materials, reports, memos, and correspondence. Strong editing and proofreading skills
  • Experience maintaining confidentiality of student records and applying federal and state FERPA and Information Privacy Act regulations
  • Ability to execute planning and logistics for special events and programs
  • Strong technical skills to learn and use enterprise systems related to this position. Advanced skill in the MS Office Suite
  • Ability to problem solve and find creative solutions in a fast-paced, student-centered environment
  • Exceptional collaboration skills, with proven ability to work, interact and solve problems with a diverse group of individuals at all organizational levels, both inside and outside of the University
  • Flexible schedule to work evening and weekend hours to attend events and programs for job-related functions. Some travel may be required for recruitment purposes and events





    Desired Qualifications

  • Experience working with graduate students in a university degree-oriented program, assessing progress toward a degree, and understanding and knowledge of academic
  • Knowledge of graduate degree requirements to develop student academic plans and guide/track graduate students through academic planning
  • Ability to evaluate and interpret a wide variety of domestic and international college courses and credentials
  • Knowledge of higher education admissions criteria and ability to develop effective results-oriented recruitment strategies
  • Familiarity with academic and social challenges confronting students from diverse backgrounds





    Special Instructions to Applicants
    Hybrid remote work opportunity is available during non-peak seasons of the academic year. Must work evening and weekend hours to attend events and programs for job-related functions. Travel may be required for recruitment purposes and events. This position reports to the Director of Operations and is part of a team of faculty and staff who are committed to the student experience. May supervise student employees and/or other full-time staff. It is a twelve-month exempt administrator position.
