(PSF) CHOC Specialists is a private pediatric subspecialty group
and a division of RCH – Orange (CHOC). With more than 500
physicians and APPs across 26 subspecialties , our Pediatric
Subspecialty Faculty (PSF) delivers comprehensive, compassionate,
and cutting-edge care through the Children’s Hospital of Orange
County health system. PSF providers play a key role in medical
education, training residents and fellows while participating in
robust clinical research and quality improvement work. PSF serves
as the employer for this position . About the Role The Physician
Assistant (PA) / Nurse Practitioner (NP) in Pediatric Dermatology
provides comprehensive evaluation and management of infants,
children, adolescents, and young adults with dermatologic
conditions, in close collaboration with supervising faculty
physicians. This position offers the opportunity to practice within
a top-tier pediatric dermatology division, participate in
multidisciplinary clinics (including vascular anomalies), and
contribute to inpatient consultations across CHOC locations. Key
Responsibilities Clinical Care Diagnose and evaluate the extent,
activity, and nature of pediatric skin diseases using appropriate
tools and techniques. Provide comprehensive assessments, including
psychosocial needs and functional impact. Develop and implement
individualized treatment plans, including specialty consults as
needed. Formulate educational goals for patients and families.
Maintain accurate, timely patient records and care documentation in
accordance with Division standards. Review laboratory data and
provide timely feedback to families or referring providers. Return
patient and provider calls promptly and professionally. Inpatient &
Specialty Services Participate in vascular anomalies clinic and
other multidisciplinary dermatology programs. Provide inpatient
consultations and manage admissions at all contracted CHOC
locations. Participate in weekly clinical rounds and case reviews.
Team Collaboration Maintain strong working relationships with
patients, families, nurses, social workers, dieticians, therapists,
and referring clinicians. Promote consistent communication and
partnered care with physicians, APP colleagues, and hospital staff.
Submit billing for professional services on the day of service.
Schedule Five (5) weekday shifts Full-time 40-hour work week
Includes vascular anomalies clinic participation and inpatient
consultation responsibilities Additional Duties Participate in
Division and organizational meetings, including required committee
service. Maintain up-to-date knowledge of new dermatologic
treatments, medications, devices, and clinical guidelines. Support
research or program development initiatives within the Dermatology
Division. Attend at least one professional conference per year
(additional conferences may require PSF approval). Participate in
Division quality-improvement projects. Teaching Responsibilities
Contribute to community education programs, provider outreach
presentations, patient-facing sessions, and public teaching
initiatives. Collaborate with residents, fellows, pediatricians,
and subspecialists while maintaining strong academic and clinical
relationships. Qualifications Required Current California PA or NP
license Current DEA registration (or ability to obtain) Medicare
Billing Number (NPI)—must be obtained within 6 months of hire
Minimum 1 year of clinical experience (pediatric or dermatology
preferred) Preferred Skills Pediatric Dermatology experience
Experience in procedural dermatology or vascular anomalies Strong
communication, family-centered care, and interdisciplinary
collaboration skills Compensation A competitive compensation
