Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: Nursing Specialty: Pediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU) Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Night Hours per Shift: 12 Experience: Minimum of 1.5 years in high acuity/high census PICU License: Must have a California RN license Certifications: ACLS, BLS, PALS required Must-Have: Must have 2 years of experience in high-acuity/high census PICUs. Description: This position is for a Pediatric Intensive Care Unit Registered Nurse. The role requires working night shifts consisting of four 12-hour shifts. Nurses will be expected to work 2 of the 3 major holidays. Candidates should have experience with patients from birth to 18 years. Skills required include arterial lines, conscious sedation, CRRT, and ECMO management. Experience in critical care for metabolic patients, respiratory issues, endocrinology, oncology, neurosurgery, cardiology, and level 1 traumas is essential. Travelers with previous assignments lasting over 8 weeks in similar facilities are preferred. Interdisciplinary support includes IV teams, physical therapy, respiratory services, and rapid response teams. Nurses must be prepared to float to NICU and CVICU as needed. Patient ratios may vary, necessitating flexibility. Candidates should have experience in managing high-volume, high-acuity patients. Knowledge of the Cerner charting system is preferred. This role entails providing critical care and support in a high-pressure environment.
