today. Job Description Elwyn seeks a Psychiatrist to diagnose and
treat a variety of emotional and psychiatric disorders and
co-occurring conditions and conditions assisting young adult
through geriatric clients with mental illness achieve social,
emotional, and personal independence. Diagnosis populations served
include chronic mental illness, dual diagnosis, and substance
abuse. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Conduct peer review
/clinical risk management meetings Elicits and records information
about patient’s medical and psychiatric histories for the purpose
of formulating accurate diagnosis and providing relevant treatment.
Orders laboratory tests and procedures as indicated to monitor
potential side effects of treatment and/or to monitor compliance.
Orders assessments or consultations for individuals to assist with
diagnostic formulation and/or develop comprehensive treatment
plans. Conducts and documents according to FHR’s policies and
procedures a semi-annual AIMS test for each individual prescribed
antipsychotic medication. Encourages individuals to have routine
medical, gynecological, optical, and dental examinations to ensure
general health maintenance. Facilitate coordination of care with
the individual’s health care team. Prescribes and monitors
psychotropic medications according to community standards of care
and the FHR P&P. Monitors individual’s response to
pharmacological intervention through individual contact, and
collaboration with other members of individual’s treatment team.
Discusses risks and benefits and obtains informed consent from
individual or appointed guardian prior to initiating
pharmacotherapy. Demonstrates ability to integrate general medical
concerns into general psychiatric care as evidenced by attention to
drug—drug interactions, complications of medical illness, and
behavioral effects of somatic illness and treatments. Provides
psychoeducation to individuals and, when appropriate, their
significant others regarding diagnosis, treatment options and
recommendations, and self-care techniques. Conducts and supervises
individual psychotherapy, family therapy, and group therapy when
clinically and programmatically indicated. Maintains documentation
in electronic health record of all individual appointments and
telephone contacts in accordance with FHR, CARF, and local
Department of Mental Health standards. E-Prescribe - Utilize
e-prescribe feature in CARe to send prescriptions electronically.
Prepares psychiatric assessments and progress notes for inclusion
in clinical records according to FHR policy. Attends and
participates in treatment planning process and has final approval
of treatment plans which is indicated by signature on the plan.
Collaborates and consults with nurses, social workers, case
managers, and other practitioners involved in individual’s care -
both within and outside of the agency. Performs emergency
assessments and refers individuals for inpatient treatment when
indicated. Coordinates individual care with inpatient practitioner
through direct communication with inpatient practitioner. Completes
in a timely manner requests to fill out forms made by individuals
or outside agencies when indicated such as insurance forms, GPA
forms, TDI forms, SSI forms, etc. Conducts self in a professional
and ethical manner in keeping with FHR policy and APA guidelines on
ethical conduct. Prepares papers for court-ordered treatment and
testifies in court when indicated. Supervises, as assigned,
licensed clinical practitioners. Available to receive emergency
calls during evenings, weekends, and holidays as required.
Participates in FHR committees as assigned. Participates in FHR
research activities as assigned. Completes prescription refills in
a timely manner. QUALIFICATIONS & SKILLS: Education: Doctorate in
medicine (MD) from an accredited medical school. Qualifications
Successful completion of an approved residency program in adult
psychiatry and licensure required. Two or more years of experience
providing services to individuals with serious and persistent
mental illness and ability to prescribe buprenorphine under the
Drug Addiction Treatment Act of 2000 (DATA 2000 waiver) is desired.

of knowledge and skill in a specific discipline Candidates must
maintain Maintains current state license, state controlled
substances license, and DEA registration. Analytical Thinking: The

ability to develop, maintain, and strengthen partnerships with
others inside or outside the organization who can provide
information, assistance, and support. Developing Others: The

clarify a situation, seek that information from appropriate
sources, and use skillful questioning to draw out the information,
when others are reluctant to disclose it Oral/ Written
Communication: The ability to express oneself clearly in
conversations and interactions with others. The ability to ensure
that information is passed on to others who should be kept
informed. The ability to express oneself clearly in
