Job Description:
Inventory Control Analyst (Amazon FBA) Onsite – San Diego, CA
(Symphony Towers) Salary: $125,000 – $150,000 About the Role
Luminize is hiring an Inventory Control Analyst to own Amazon FBA
reconciliation and inventory controls across thousands of SKUs. Our
engineering team has already built the SP-API data pipelines
pulling Amazon FBA inventory and ledger data into our warehouse.
Now we need a forensic-minded operator to turn that data into
control, accountability, and recoverable dollars. This is not a
reporting role. This is an ownership role. You will trace inventory
from purchase and warehouse handling through FBA inbound, Amazon
receiving, adjustments, returns, removals, and end-of-life. You
will identify exactly where units fall out of the chain of custody,
quantify financial impact, and drive corrective action across
Warehouse, Operations, Accounting, and Engineering. If you enjoy
solving messy operational puzzles and protecting real dollars at
scale — this role is for you. What Success Looks Like (First 90
Days) Within your first three months, you will: Build a repeatable
reconciliation process for inbound shipments from warehouse to
Amazon. Produce a weekly variance report quantifying unreconciled
units and total dollar impact by shipment, SKU, and root-cause
category. Establish aging buckets and escalation rules for missing,
delayed, misplaced, damaged, lost, disposed, unfulfillable, and
unreceived units. Identify top recurring failure points and
recommend operational fixes. Deliver executive-ready reporting that
provides clarity to Finance and Operations — not raw data dumps.
Key Responsibilities 1. Inbound Reconciliation Ownership Own
reconciliation of inventory moving from our warehouse to Amazon
FBA, including: Internal WMS shipment creation and outbound records
Box- and shipment-level expected contents Carrier tracking and
handoff validation Amazon receiving and ledger events Open
discrepancies, aging, and resolution tracking You will identify the
exact point where units deviate from expected flow — packing
variance, labeling issues, carrier loss, delayed receiving, or
Amazon errors. 2. Amazon Ledger & Inventory Event Analysis Analyze
FBA ledger and inventory data across receipts, shipments, returns,
removals, disposals, and adjustments. Translate Amazon reason codes
into business impact. Investigate adjustment patterns and
unresolved exceptions. Quantify financial exposure tied to variance
categories. 3. Exception Management & Forensic Investigation Build
and manage a structured exception queue covering: Inbound shipment
shortages Misplaced vs. found unit patterns Damaged inventory
events Removal order discrepancies Aged unresolved variances
requiring escalation or reimbursement follow-up 4. Root Cause &
Control Design Identify recurring operational failure points.
Partner with Warehouse and Operations to implement stronger
controls. Address data mapping mismatches between internal systems
and Amazon. Recommend audit checks and validate variance reduction
over time. 5. Reporting & Executive Visibility Develop dashboards
and reporting for CFO, Accounting, and Operations leadership that
clearly show: Unreconciled units and total dollars at risk Variance
by root cause Aging of open discrepancies Recovery and
reimbursement opportunities Trend analysis by warehouse process,
carrier, or Amazon event type 6. Cross-Functional Partnership
Collaborate with: Engineering (data quality & pipeline integrity)
Warehouse leadership (process validation & corrections) Accounting
(inventory variance & month-end support) Amazon Operations (case
escalation & reimbursement tracking) Qualifications Required
Experience 3 years of Amazon FBA inventory reconciliation,
operations analytics, or inventory control experience. Deep
understanding of FBA inbound, receiving behavior, adjustments,
removals, returns, and common variance drivers. Proven experience
reconciling internal operational data against Amazon reports or
ledger-level event data. Technical Skills Strong SQL skills;
ability to query large datasets across shipment, SKU, and
event-level tables. Advanced Excel (Power Query, complex lookups,
pivots, variance workflows). Ability to structure reconciliation
logic with audit trails and exception handling. Mindset Forensic
attention to detail. Comfortable working with imperfect data. Bias
toward building repeatable controls — not one-off analysis. Strong
ownership mentality. Preferred Experience SP-API sourced inventory
datasets BI tools (Looker, Tableau, Power BI) High-SKU, high-volume
environments Reimbursement and loss recovery workflows WMS data
models and box-content reconciliation Why Join Luminize We operate
at scale in the Amazon ecosystem and believe strong operational
controls drive profitability. This role directly protects revenue
and reduces inventory risk across a multi-million-dollar footprint.
You’ll work onsite with leadership in San Diego at Symphony Towers
and have visibility across Operations, Finance, and Engineering. If
you want to own inventory control at scale — and turn forensic
analysis into measurable financial impact — we’d love to speak with
you.
