Stable company in the city of Orange, CA is looking for a Buyer to join our amazing team. -

Direct hire opportunity with a pay range of $28 to $35 - 7am to 4pm

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. - Other duties may be assigned. -

-Examines and integrates the material and production plans for maximum efficiencies, initiates and expedites purchase orders to prevent production shortages, determines lead times, and reacts quickly to order changes.

-Responsible for purchasing all goods and services. Controls raw material stocks, components, purchased items, operating supplies pertinent to meeting Manufacturing Work Order requirements.

-Expedites purchases when necessary. - Ensures that proper quantities of materials are on order. Contacts vendors and shippers to ensure that merchandise, supplies, and equipment are forwarded on specified shipping dates.

-Plans blanket purchase orders for a variety of commodities, materials, and supplies. Works from historical usage, future projections, incorporating typical multiples for complete unit demand.

-Reviews and monitors upcoming orders to ensure that proper quantities are on order. Place additional orders when necessary and expedite and push out as needed.

-Work closely with Engineering on the integration of new suppliers either for new products or as alternative sources for existing. - Maintain ERP computer files for data integrity and ease of maintaining. -

-Locates alternative sources of supply of non-engineered products, interviews vendors, checks reliability of suppliers, obtains quotations and makes quotation comparisons to ensure reliable sources of supply.

-Reviews upcoming orders and proactively contact vendors to ensure that deliveries are on schedule and as necessary expedites shipments of orders or orders in part to satisfy plant production requirements. Follows up on overdue materials.

-Maintains vendor performance reports as required. Manage vendor relationships and build effective partnerships

-Informs supervisor and Planning Manager of issues encountered such as failure of vendor to supply materials, short deliveries, transit problems, etc., so that alternate actions may be initiated, e.G. Utilizing alternate supply sources, revising production schedules, etc., to avoid delays.

-Receives and reviews requisitions for goods or services to be purchased. - Ascertains required delivery dates and what materials and quantities should be purchased based on inventory levels and cost break multiples.

-Maintains stock levels in the most economical quantities to minimize investment, controls storage costs, handling and obsolescence.

-Compiles data from sources such as contracts, purchase orders, invoices, requisitions, and accounting reports and enters and maintains into excel or similar database to maintain appropriate analysis needed to meet needs of the organization.

-Monitors inventory levels, consumption rate, changes in usage to adjust mins/maxs and purchasing order levels. - Incorporates current market conditions and lead times. Recommend minimum/maximum inventory levels for all materials/components and track inventory to ensure that minimum/maximum levels are appropriately maintained

-Formulates and projects future inventory needs and schedules to facilitate procurement and delivery.

-Reports to Supply Chain Manager any changes that would save production time and money, and develops reports to keep track of same.

-Maintains close working relationship with Engineering to the ensure proper coordination in the introduction of new products.

-Performs special projects as requested.


To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.

At least - 3-5 years - of relevant buying/planning experience, specifically in a - manufacturing environment.

Broad and thorough knowledge of purchasing/planning theories, principles, and practice - - -

Experience with - ERP software - required

Working knowledge and effective ability to utilize Microsoft Office software specifically advanced Excel - skills desired.

APICS certification preferred
