Salary offers are determined based on the final candidate's qualifications and experience, as well as internal equity and other internal factors. Position Summary Information




Job Description Summary
Assist with data collection and analysis for a project on the micro-structure of hagfish slime.




Responsibilities

• 
  
• Analyze SEM data from lyophilized hagfish slime
  
• Assist with experiments measuring water content of hagfish slime, generating flash frozen lyophilized samples.
  
• Assist with hagfish animal care duties.
  
• Perform other duties as assigned.
  
  
  
  
  
  Required Qualifications
  
  • 
    
  • Strong basic wet chemistry skills, including the use of a pH meter, autopipet, centrifuge, analytical balance and stir plate.
    
  • Experience with Microsoft Excel, specifically with respect to generating scientific graphs
    
  • Research laboratory experience in an appropriate field with preference given to candidates with a degree in chemistry, geology, biochemistry or related field
    
  • Completed courses in general chemistry
    
  • Strong analytical and organizational skills
    
  • Ability to learn/operate laboratory equipment and maintain a safe working environment.
    
  • Writing skills to summarize research findings and integrate into scientific manuscripts
    
  • Willingness to acquire new skills
    
  • Communication and interpersonal skills to interact and work collaboratively with other researchers
