Job Summary: Zymo Research is actively searching for a dynamic Lab Technician to become an integral part of our Protein Team. In this role, you will collaborate closely with R&D team members, manufacturing, and operations staff to ensure the prompt delivery of protein products meets the highest quality standards. As a Lab Technician, your primary responsibility will be the production of recombinant proteins and enzymes, strictly adhering to Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs). Your duties will extend to maintaining workspaces at a consistently high level of inspection readiness and utilizing business systems for effective inventory and process management. Additionally, you will meticulously maintain records to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements. Essential Duties and Responsibilities: · Upstream Manufacturing: Execute sterilization processes and operation of media preparation, fermentation, and harvest operations. · Downstream Manufacturing: Conduct the protein purification process, encompassing tasks such as dialysis, filtration, diafiltration, large-scale buffer preparation, centrifugation, and chromatography. · Ensure the cleanliness and maintenance of all equipment, instruments, glassware, and materials. · Assemble and prepare equipment and materials for the production process. · Adhere to Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and maintain comprehensive manufacturing documentation. · Demonstrate effective and professional communication skills while working collaboratively in a team environment. Education and Experience: · Required: High School Diploma · Desirable but not required: Bachelor’s degree in biology, Biochemistry, Biomedical Engineering, or relevant work experience in the biotech field. · Strong oral and written communication skills. · Proficiency in computer-based systems. · Desirable experience in creating and revising SOPs and Manufacturing Formulas. · Flexibility to work weekends, off-shifts, and overtime as needed. · Comfort working with pressurized tanks, housings, and equipment connected by piping, pumps, and serviced by pressurized steam, water, air, and cleaning/sanitizing chemical systems. · Expected to be on feet, standing, or walking for up to 90% each day. · Capability to push, pull, or lift materials weighing up to 50 lbs. · Proficiency in troubleshooting or manipulating process equipment, connections, and raw materials. Compensation, Benefits, and Perks: The estimated base compensation range for this position is $20 to $25 per hour at the time of posting.
